Pumpkin Farming! [GUIDE] [SKYBLOCK] So, you need money? I mean, everyone needs money. A nice way to do this is to farm pumpkins. Set up a pumpkin farm, then let the money roll in. However, it is sadly not as simple as set up a pumpkin farm then sit back and relax. Here is a guide on pumpkin farming.
Step One: Money From a pumpkin farm, you will make money. But that does not mean you will not have to pay money to make it. If you have been playing the game for a while, making a small pumpkin farm or even a big pumpkin farm should be no problem. If you just started, you might want to grind some coins first. I used like 20k just for the dirt, and probably like another 20k or even more on other items, like pumpkins and stone slabs. For pumpkin farms that take up the entire island space, you will probably need around 40k for the dirt, and more things adding up to around 100k.
Step Two: Island Space Unless you have already tried building something huge, you might not know that your island space is limited to only 160×160 blocks. Even for small pumpkin farms, you want to mark how big your island is. Drink some magic soup, then start building a path to the side. When you have reached the limit, start building forward. Soon, you will get to the corner of your building space. Once you get here, build a large pillar as far down as you can. After this, try to make a way that you can get down there that doesn’t take up a lot of space. You don’t want to take up too much space because you won’t have the maximum amount of room to make your pumpkin farm. Once you do this, you can make a large square around the perimeter of your island space.
Step Three: Dirt Rows For this next part, you will need a lot of dirt. Go to the Builder NPC and buy lots of dirt. Once you get back, fill up 3 double chests with just dirt. Go down to where you are building your pumpkin farm, and you might want to drink some of that magical soup stuff. Get your dirt, and start building rows 1 block up from how far you can build down. Build 4 blocks wide, go all the to the other side of your island space, leave a 1 block space, then start doing the process again and again until you are happy with the size of your pumpkin farm. This will take a loooooooooong time, like hours.
Step Four: Finish Your Pumpkin Farm Do you remember that blank space in between the rows? That is where you need to place your water. Maker sure that you build under the water so it stays only where it needs to be. Once you are done with this, place glowstone on top of your water. Don’t place it in the water! Now it’s pumpkin time! You can farm pumpkins at The Barn or you can buy them from the Farmer NPC. Hoe the sides of the rows and leave 2 blocks in between the hoed ground so your pumpkins can go there. After you are done with this, place pumpkin seeds. You may think your pumpkin farm is done. However, you might want to place slabs on top of the pumpkin seeds or else mobs and you might start jumping on the seeds and destroying them.
Step Five: Time to Harvest! Sadly, you must be at your island for your pumpkins to grow. So, you need to make an AFK pool. Here are some videos that might be useful: How to Make an AFK Pool How to Not Get Kicked Into The Lobby Instead of logging off, try to AFK while you eat, sleep, go somewhere, or anytime you are not playing. Get some haste, speed, and a golden axe. This is recommended for getting your pumpkins. After you get your pumpkins, go to the Farmer NPC and sell them. You can sell them on the Bazzar but it’s not what is best to do.
Pumpkin or Melon farms are not one of the best money making methods currently available in the early-game. If built correctly, it can produce about 12.8K pumpkins per layer worth 4 coins each (+double pumpkins for higher farming levels). Harvesting takes anywhere from 8 to 30 minutes depending on player speed. The time taken to regrow depends on hydration; for hydrated 97-99% growth takes 30–40 minutes and dehydrated 96-99% growth takes 1-1.5 hours. Alternating melon/pumpkins farms can reach 99% in less than 20 mins.
Pumpkins are better to farm, Melons sell to NPC for
half as much, take up
4x as much inventory space and give less exp per. However, with the Bazaar melons sell for
50% more per growth than Pumpkins.
Pumpkin farms are usually built by players as a means to get a higher farming skill.

Construction [ ]
Build your farms from one side to the other 3 lanes at a time to prevent burnout and allow you to farm incomplete farms without mobs spawning.
Hydrated [ ]
light green is slab covered seeds, orange is pumpkins, red is slab covered pumpkins, blue water, yellow circle sea lanterns, dark green uncovered seeds. top-down layout of 48.8% pumpkins hydrated farm
4. Place Sea lanterns or glowstone to ensure there is at least 8 light from blocks everywhere. e.x. (77, 42, 75), (76, 42, 75) and repeating every 9 blocks: (77, 42, 66), (76, 42, 66) etc.
5. Till the land under the slabs and place seeds. e.x. Till and plant seeds in lanes X=80, 77, 76, 73, 72
6. Replace dirt with water every 8 blocks. e.x. (77, 40, 75), (76, 40, 66), (76, 42, 57) etc.
7. Repeat until the whole layer is done then repeat for more layers
Other patterns [ ]
A less effective but less complex pattern can be followed also. One such other pattern would be using full lanes for water instead. Fill the inside with 1 row of water then 8 rows of dirt then 1 water, 8 dirt, etc. using this pattern. This pattern is only 9% fewer pumpkins or 1.1k fewer pumpkins per layer.
If you built multiple layers of this farm, it would look like this from the side.
A much faster-growing variant is also possible by alternating melon and pumpkin seeds so that no row of pumpkin is next to another row of pumpkin, which speeds up the growing time by 100% (20 mins to regrow). The only downside being juggling two different items, and losing 4 inventory slots, can be mitigated by doing all pumpkins rows then storing pumpkins in Ender Chest then doing all melon rows.
Materials [ ]
Per layer you will use aprox.
In total you will need about 148,119 coins (with Sea lanterns) Or 125,799 coins (With Glowstone)
Dry Farm [ ]
Dry farms are not recommended but can be used if the island is always occupied but only farmed 1-2 times per day.
To build just build as above but skip step 6. Dry farms can also be converted later on.

Farming is one of the Skills available for players to level up as they perform certain actions that give them Farming XP.
Roman Numerals are used to express its levels in-game.
The Farming Level Cap can be increased through Jacob’s Farming Contests, to a maximum of Level 60 (LX). In order to reach this cap, players must place in the GOLD bracket of a unique crop type, then purchase the upgrade from Anita in the Farmhouse. This can be done 10 times, increasing the cap one level for each unique crop type mastered.

Note: As opposed to Combat XP, Farming XP is received per broken block rather than killing the mobs.
Nether Wart grants Alchemy XP instead of Farming XP. A Nether Wart farm would probably not be viable when starting out, for you will not have double drops or even triple drops.
*Griffin Feathers also grant Farming experience; however, this is a bug due to the game considering Griffin Feathers as normal feathers.
Increasing Level Cap [ ]
Increasing the player’s Farming Level Cap requires mastery in a unique crop type. Mastery comes in the form of Jacob’s Farming Contests, a contest that requires players to farm as many crops as possible in a 20-minute time frame. Scoring in the top 5% of contestants in the Farming Contest will reward the player with a GOLD Medal, and allows players to purchase +1 Farming Level Cap for each unique crop type.
The cost of increasing the player’s Farming Level Cap increases for each level.

Farmhand [ ]
Each level of Farming grants one level of Farmhand. For example, if you were on Farming level 15, you would be on Farmhand level 15.
Farming XP Boosts [ ]
You can boost your farming XP either permanently or temporarily by:
With these boosts combined (NOT including the Derpy mayoral perk), you could normally get up to 9.2 farming XP from pumpkins (10.1 with cultivating). Or you could get 4.4 farming XP from sugarcane (4.8 with cultivating), which is effectively 8.8 (9.7 with cultivating) because you can break 2 at the same time.
Leveling Rewards [ ]
Unlike most other Skills, Farming has a maximum level of 60.
